STEVE TYLER BIO

Film Actor

As a widely respected actor, his versatile onscreen demeanor is why the Farrelly Brothers cast him as the quintessential straight man: playing an oblivious gas station attendant opposite Bill Murray, Randy Quaid and Woody Harrellson in KING PIN, the baffled doctor delivering Jim Carrey’s babies in ME, MYSELF & IRENE, the obnoxious reporter stalking Ben Stiller in SOMETHING ABOUT MARY , one very confused waiter with Jack Black and Gwenyth Paltrow in SHALLOW HAL and police partner to Dane Cook in STUCK ON YOU with Matt Damon, Greg Kinnear, Cher, Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson and Tom Hanks. Other screen roles include A RIVER MADE TO DROWN IN with Richard Chamberlain and BOY'S LIFE 3, written and directed by Jason Gould. Mr. Tyler can currently be seen recurring as the Fairview Minister in ABC’s DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.

Commercials, Soaps & Stage

Perhaps his stint as the KOOL cigarette man, in a worldwide media campaign, defines his jocular charisma. Television audiences will recognize him, not only from over 225 National & Regional TV Commercials pitching everything from Allstate to Zyrtec, but from his recurring role as Gino on the Emmy Award winning DAYS OF OUR LIVES  His easygoing style also landed him a regular hosting gig on P.M. MAGAZINE. Numerous acting awards for his theatrical work have made him a staple of the Los Angeles theatre scene, having appeared in FIRST COUPLE opposite Michael Sabatino & Lynne Moody, THE CAT'S MEOW, RUBICON, SELF HELP and CARLA opposite Elizabeth Shue. He has more than forty theatrical productions to his credit, encompassing a volume of work from New York to Los Angeles.

Producer & Creator

Tyler's credits include the stage play and television pilot C.L.A.S.S. and THE BODY KICK. His over 20 theatrical stage productions, (many of which have been highly successful fundraisers) include two all-star renditions of the classic VALLEY OF THE DOLLS with Sharon Lawrence, Bruce Vilanch, Chad Allen, Greg Louganis, Alec Mapa, Laraine Newman, Michael Kearns, Wilson Cruz, Donna Mills, Mindy Cohn, MacKenzie Phillips, Robert Gant, Melissa Joan Hart and Joely Fisher.  Tyler co-founded LOS ANGELES PLAYWRIGHTS ARENA Theatre with Jon Lawrence Rivera.

Off Screen

Steve is as well known off screen as he is on. Consider a few of his many affiliations, national spokesman for Big Brothers of America, appointed by California Governor Davis to the California Council for the Humanities and Board of Governors of GLASS. He remains a tireless force in both the entertainment industry, philanthropic and political arenas.

This multi-faceted Renaissance man lives in Los Angeles where he is an active participant in the city's artistic and political landscape.
